Sound Manor

March 2008

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to spring! As I am writing this, the Stafford event has been cancelled and the rain is, as usual for the last couple of weeks if not months pelting down on my windows.  Spring does in fact feel a long way away, but it’s not, the clocks have changed and the light evenings are here and let’s hope that with them comes some warm dry weather so we can enjoy the hobby that is our horses.

Enclosed is the summer program, we have done our utmost to include something for everyone I hope that you will all participate and get the maximum enjoyment from all the dates. There is a wide spectrum of activities aiming to please across the board.

It is of course CAMP time again and as last year it will be held at Kelsall. Last year was a tremendous success and the feed back was brilliant regardless of the weather.  Everyone had a fabulous time and the atmosphere was superb, everyone enjoyed their lessons and the freedom of the farm ride. In the evenings we all talked about our day whilst eating the fabulous food washed down with a glass of wine.

So on to this year and what a great weekend to look forward to, the trainers are Bill Levett for the show jumping and cross country and Sarah Probin for the flatwork, both trainers have been in huge demand on former training sessions. The farm ride will again be available to use as and when you want to use it. This year Tim has volunteered to be the chef and I am sure we will not be disappointed. If it would help to pay for camp in instalments contact Vicky Mollart ( 01782 638905 )

Area 20 qualifiers are upon us and as a club we have horse trials, dressage, show jumping then later in the year hunter trials and indoor show jumping. This year we are having a change of plan re the helpers for area 20 and are asking the team members to supply their own helpers. This isn’t always feasible so we are asking everyone to take a look at their calendar, could you help on an Area 20 team day? The teams need our support, it could be you next time that needs help as you compete for the club. It would count as a normal duty and relieve you from the winter season work!  Actually I always find the day is fun, especially if the weather is kind.

Hope you like the new SCRC planner—the idea is that you can pin it onto your notice board and refer more easily to it. Do let us know please.

I look forward to seeing you over the late spring and summer.

Happy riding!

                    Gill Ratcliffe ( Chairman )
