SCRC has always had a good record of team performance – at area level and indeed at national level too. In the last 10 years we have achieved 2nd place in the Novice Horse Trials Championships, 2nd place in the Novice Indoor Show Jumping Championships and only last year 2nd place in the Prelim Dressage Championships. With that record we have not only a lot to live up to but also a lot to aim for – i.e. a 1st nationally!!
Although there is a named person responsible for teams – Shirley Cadwallader for show jumping and horse trials, Martin Powell for dressage – in fact the selection is discussed extensively at committee and is based on current performance both within the club and without, reliability, attendance, training and the desire of the individual to represent the club.
However, it is up to the club to root you out – if you are interested in competing at whatever level, make yourself known to the person responsible, attend the training and competitions that are organised regularly over the Winter/Spring and get yourself ready to participate.
For information regarding your eligibility and the format for area competitions, please contact Shirley or Martin and send your form ASAP to Shirley.
